Dynamic Characters:
Boo Radley is the town's mystery man. Nobody really knows him. Scout, Jem, and Dill have an idea to try to get him out of his house. They are very curious of what he is doing and what he looks like. He also evolves more as we read more and more. He puts soap figures of Scout and Jem, gum, an old watch, and yarn in a knot-hole near his house, which later is filled by cement because, his brother figures out he is communicating to the children. He puts mends Jem's pants back together and puts them neatly on the fence. During Miss Maudie's house fire, he puts a blanket on Scout, she doesn't even realize. He brings Scout and Jem home from almost being killed by Mr. Ewell.

Scout is the narrator of the book. Also is known as Jean Louise Finch. Scout is 6 at the start of the book. She tells us all about how she grows up. She is smarter than the other kids in Maycomb, Alabama. She changes as we read more of the book. Scout doesn't understand the trial but, she realizes that it's wrong that Mr. Robinson is convicted for something he never even did. She is upset of the verdict. Almost could've been killed by Bob.

Jem Finch is Scouts older brother. He is also known as Jeremy Finch. He is 10 at the start of the book. He grows older and mature as we keep reading the book. He finds his pants mended on the Radley's fence.He reads to Mrs.Dubose because, he is forced to by his father to help her focus not on her morphine addiction. He wants to be grown up because he would like to be like his father. Jem thinks that they are going to win the trial and in the end Tom Robinson is convicted and sent to jail. He is deeply saddened by the verdict, he cries and realizes that there is not only good in the world but, there is evil. He breaks his arm from Bob trying to attack them and is knocked out, Boo brings him home.
Static Characters:
Atticus Finch is Scouts and Jems father. He is a lawyer in Maycomb. He teaches Scout how to read. He gives her great advice. He is the lawyer of Tom Robinson. He tries to prove that Tom is innocent. He becomes sad by the verdict because, he truly thought that they won the case. He tears up when all of the people put food on his back porch for helping Tom, at least trying. He plays a great role in the book.
Calpurnia is nanny, cook, and maid of the Finch household. She watches after Jem and Scout when Atticus is away sometimes. Atticus said if they didn't have her that the house wouldn't run correctly. She brings the children to her church well dressed to show that she is a good caretaker. She is also sad by the fact of Tom being convicted because, he was a good man. She helps Atticus tell Helen Robinson that Tom is dead.
Bob Ewell is a bad father. He is known for spending the money his family needs on alcohol instead of necesseties. He goes to court because, they report a rape of his daughter, Mayella Ewell. We learn in the end that Bob is the one who sexually abuses his daughter. He is the real man guilty, yet nothing happens. He doesn't feel sorry for sending a innocent man to jail. He spits in Atticus's face because, the whole town now knows what he does to his daughter. Bob tried to kill the children and ends up stumbling on a tree root and accidentally kills himself.
Tom Robinson is Atticus's client. He is accused of rape and Atticus is trying to help him to prove that he is an innocent man. Everybody else in town doesn't understand why Atticus is helping Tom. Most of the town is racist. Tom ends up going to jail, yet Atticus proved he was innocent. Tom tried climbing the fence at prison and gets shot by guards and dies.

Dill is Jem and Scouts friend. He has the idea to get Boo Radley out of the house which moves the book further along. He helps continue the plot. He and Scout believe they might marry one day. He is also Jem's age. He hides under Scout and Jem's bed one night because he ran away. During the trial Dill knows what they do to Tom is wrong. He becomes sick in the trial and Scout brings him outside to see Mr.Raymond and he gives Dill coca-cola to feel better. Dill is sad by the verdict also, he doesn't believe what happened is right.
Miss Maudie lives in Scout and Jem's neighborhood. Scout hangs out with her one day when Jem and Dill tell her to go do girl things. Scout and her talk about nut grass in a chapter, because the boys told her to do girl things. Her house catches one fire one night, that brings out the whole neighborhood even Boo Radley, to put a blanket on Scout. She doesn't agree with the verdict also.
